HUMANIZE INFERTILITY

One woman, one couple, and one story at a time, we are shining a light on the struggles of infertility to uplift and honor women bravely fighting for hope and desire.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

I finished my PhD holding a couple hundred pages of my dissertation on infertility, egg donation, and risk disclosure and knew I wanted to grow what I started not simply finish what I started on those pages.

Through seven plus years of research on infertility policy, ethics, regulations and practices I was left feeling like a major piece of the puzzle was missing: the woman.

The individual or couple living, feeling, and experiencing infertility every single day and often times in complete silence and darkness.

Using my research and my experience as a foundation, I am on a mission to humanize infertility.

I am on a mission to humanize:

  • the emotional struggles of feeling shame, powerless and broken when battling infertility;

  • the physical pain women choose to endure when utilizing infertility technologies;

  • the financial burden that infertility can quickly become;

  • and the disease that the World Health Organization (WHO) has defined infertility to truly be.

In order to fully support those struggling with infertility and in order to make fundamental changes in policies, regulations and standard practices that not only provide but protect women, we have to truly see and hear these women.

We have to create a safe environment that gives voice to the disease of infertility that is too often experienced and managed in silence.

We have to shine a light on the struggles of infertility not to judge or shame but to uplift and honor women bravely fighting for hope and desire.

We have to listen to the pain, fear and loss that women are grappling with in order to better understand the full impact of this disease.

The purpose of the Humanize Infertility project is to empower women struggling with infertility by providing knowledge, hope, and connection.

KNOWLEDGE of the known and more importantly the unknown regarding infertility treatment.

HOPE on a journey that is often dark and dominated by feelings of being helpless and powerless.

CONNECTION to remind women they are not alone. Others have walked this path before them and so many others are currently walking beside them.
